Sunday Worship
Weekly at 9:30 a.m.
Welcome to worship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church! If you plan to visit
us, we want you to feel welcome and to know that we are delighted to have
you here.
Open Communion
We practice open Communion at Good Shepherd. You don’t have to be a member
to participate. All who share our belief that Jesus is present in his holy
meal are welcome to receive the bread and cup. Children and adults who do
not commune are invited to come forward to receive a special blessing. Both
wine and grape juice are available. If you wish to commune and are unable to
come forward or need other assistance, please let an usher know so that we
can serve you.
Prayer Chain
If you have a request for the Prayer Chain: Please call the Church Office at
815-369-5552.
We lift up loved ones in assisted-living facilities/ nursing homes,
homebound, etc. in prayer. They would love to hear from you, consider
visiting, calling, or sending them a note. Call the church office for
information.
New Babies
If there is a birth within the Good Shepherd church family, please call the
church office at 815-369-5552 with all family information. We want to share
in the celebration by placing a rose on the altar and announcing it in the
bulletin.
Worship Volunteers
There are many ways to serve in worship. If you are interested in assisting in any capacity with the
services, please contact the office or put a note in with your offering. New
volunteers are welcome! There are many opportunities including: Lector, Assisting Minister,
Worship Assistant, Communion Ushers, Communion Set-up and Clean-up,
Communion Assistants, Greeters, Ushers, Special Music, Sound System, Video
Camera Operators, and Power Point Operators. We would like to thank all the
volunteers who have helped in the past. You make this church work and we
really appreciate it!
Sunday Morning Service Volunteers
Thank you to all for serving willingly and graciously! The worship service
could not run smoothly without you. You are the ones responsible for
conveying the best first impression to our visitors as they enter our
building and participate in worship.
Listed below are some generalized items to
consider when volunteering.
1. Arrive early, ½ hour before the service.
2. If unable to fulfill your duty, contact the person who asked you or
find a replacement and notify the office.
3. Know your duties.
4. Smile.
5. Be respectful to everyone in your attitude and appearance.
6. If you will be speaking in the service, request your readings ahead
of time so you may have read them aloud prior to the service.
7. Be at the microphone ready to read. The Sound System operators
will adjust the microphone as needed.
8. If you are a greeter, make sure the outside entrance doors on
Washington Street and Mason Street have a greeter at them
(including the parish hall entrance).
