Piece Corps: Material Needed
Join us Wednesdays from 8:00 to 11:30 am
Quilting Material Needed

“Piece Corps” Quilting is in need of backs for quilting. Any size (twin, full, queen or king) flat sheets or blankets are welcome as well as material of any size. Quilts are given to those in need locally and throughout the world.

Youth Group Nights at Good Shepherd!
7th-12th graders, come join in the Fun and Connection on Wednesday nights at 7pm! Prayer, Games, and Conversation. Let’s grow together! Feel free to invite friends! Who will you invite?

Food Pantry Volunteers Needed
Good Shepherd helps at the Food Pantry on 4th Saturday of the even months. Feeding the people is an important ministry. If you can help this year, please put your names and phone number in the sign-up sheet at the ramp. If you can be a sub, please let the office know. Thank you.

Lent
Lent is forty days of journey of discipline, renewal, and new life. This year’s Lenten seasons starts on February 26th. Lenten devotion for 2020, Wondrous Love explores Jesus' journey from baptism to the cross and the empty tomb, as depicted in Matthew. We have large print and regular print available at the rack.

Holy Week and Easter Services
Palm/Passion Sunday (April 5) 9:30am
Maundy Thursday (April 9) 5pm at GS, 7pm at Lena UMC.
Good Friday (April 10) 3pm at Lena UMC, 7pm at GS.
Easter Sunday (April 12) 6:15am at Lena Cemetery, 7am & 9:30am

Good Shepherd 2020 Scholarship Applications
The criteria for eligibility are as follows:
1. Participating member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
2. Graduating senior presently enrolled in college, or a returning college student.
3. Full time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours.
4. Student entering an Associate or Bachelor degree program.
5. Thorough completion and timely return of application.
6. Adult student returning for courses toward certification, associates or bachelor degree.

Since 1997, sixty-nine scholarships have been awarded. Applications for 2020 scholarships will be available April 1, 2020 at the church office. They must be returned to the church office by April 30, 2020. Recipients may not reapply for additional scholarships. Amount of scholarship is not to exceed $1000, and may be less than this amount as demand requires. Also offered is a $200 award for adults returning for class work.

Friendship Club at Good Shepherd
Second Thursday of Each Month at Noon
The Lena Friendship Club is a non-denominational club sponsored by the Lutheran Social Service of Illinois and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The club started October 21, 1959. We meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at 12:00pm (noon) for potluck lunch and entertainment by local musicians. No dues. Free will offering only. Hymn Sing at Lena Living Center
Join us the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9:45am at the Lena Living Center for a Hymn Sing. It is a great chance to serve others by helping them find their page numbers, to encourage others, and to sing praises to God! All youth, family, and friends are invited and welcome to join in this fun, relaxing, and rewarding sing along.

Devotion Books for 2020
We have new devotion books for you to start a new year! Christ in Our Homes and The Word in Season provide daily readings and prayers. Pockets has fun easy reading, puzzles, and recipes. They are free and for your spiritual growth. Pick your copy at the rack today.

                Youth Owl Night and Christmas Program

Lenten Devotion Book—Wondrous Love
Wondrous Love provides a devotion for each day from Ash Wednesday to the Vigil of Easter (traditionally known as Holy Saturday). Devotions begin with an evocative image and a brief passage from the Gospel of Matthew. The writers then bring their unique voices and pastoral wisdom to the Matthew texts with quotations to ponder, reflect, and prayer. (p3 Wondrous Love) Both regular print and large print editions are available at the rack.

It Is Time to Order Easter Lilies
Order Deadline is March15th
Lilies will be $12.00 per plant and can be ordered by using the flower envelopes provided in the pews. Please place them in the offering plate or you can drop them off at the church office. Lilies may be picked up after the 9:30 am Easter Sunday Service.

Jr. High After School Arts and Cooking
If you are in Jr. High and interested in art and/or cooking, come to this new after school program. We’ll meet every Wednesday 3:45pm-5:15pm for art/cooking. It’s free! Sessions will alternate each week. Cooking Sessions will meet at Lena UMC, 118 W. Mason: April 1, 15, 29, May 13. Art Sessions will meet at Synergy, 845 Birch Drive: March 25, April 8, 22, May 6, 20. We are also looking for volunteers. If you are interested or have any questions, please talk to Pr. Miho.

61st Annual Spring Craft & Antique Show

The Conference Coordination Committee (CCC) of the
Northwest Conference invites all ladies and guests to join us at the Spring Assembly gathering in For brunch and a program on “Doors Open Wide”. Find out how the “Dow” house is ministering to young girls and their babies in our community. Gathering starts with registration at 9:00am and brunch served at 9:30am with the program to follow. It is a great time to have fellowship with our friends in the NW Conference of WELCA. Reservation and a fee of $10. to cover the brunch and the program is needed by March 21, 2020. See registration form at the bottom of the flier. A free will offering will be taken for ongoing programs of the NW Conference Committee. Please join us for a morning outing with friends.
