Piece Corps: Material Needed
Join us Wednesdays from 8:00 to 11:30 am
Quilting Material Needed

“Piece Corps” Quilting is in need of backs for quilting. Any size (twin, full, queen or king) flat sheets or blankets are welcome as well as material of any size. Quilts are given to those in need locally and throughout the world.

Youth Group Nights at Good Shepherd!
7th-12th graders, come join in the Fun and Connection on Wednesday nights at 7pm! Prayer, Games, and Conversation. Let’s grow together! Feel free to invite friends! Who will you invite?

Collection for the Veterans
In the month of November Lena Lions is collecting gloves, socks, stocking caps, and scarves for the veterans in our area. Collection box is in the Washington Street entrance. Help our veterans those who have served.

Looking for Favorite Christmas Carols for Christmas Services
Want to sing more Christmas carols? We have 5 Christmas worship services (Dec. 24, 25, 29,January 5) this year. You can help to plan! Please submit your favorite Christmas carols to the church office (or place it in the offering plate) by November 3. Submit the name of the carol, hymn number and hymnal: ELW or WOV.

Friendship Club at Good Shepherd
Second Thursday of Each Month at Noon
The Lena Friendship Club is a non-denominational club sponsored by the Lutheran Social Service of Illinois and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The club started October 21, 1959. We meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at 12:00pm (noon) for potluck lunch and entertainment by local musicians. No dues. Free will offering only. Choir Rehearsal Has Begun
Come and make joyful harmony to the Lord! Chimes/Bells will start next Sunday, September 15 at 5pm. If you are interested in singing and/or playing chimes/bells, talk to Janis or just show up to rehearsal.

Hymn Sing at Lena Living Center
Join us the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9:45am at the Lena Living Center for a Hymn Sing. It is a great chance to serve others by helping them find their page numbers, to encourage others, and to sing praises to God! All youth, family, and friends are invited and welcome to join in this fun, relaxing, and rewarding sing along.

My Friend’s Closet Thrift Store
We are dependent on volunteers and always looking for more willing hands. If you or anyone you know are interested in helping us at the store, please call Fawn Nolan at 815-369-4035 during the day. We are open 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Saturday with extended hours on Wednesday evening until 8 p.m. We offer servant hours to students also. Check us out!

Christmas Parade and Advent Fun

Lena Area Church Cooperative Thanksgiving Baskets: Now Accepting Monetary Donations
Last year the LACC handed out 51 baskets to families and individuals in need. We are planning for 55+for this year. The LACC is able to purchase food baskets for $16.00each from the Northern Illinois Food Bank. There is a table in the fellowship hall with a basket for your monetary donations now through November 24. Questions? Please contact Shirley Fox or Mary Lloyd. Waiting for Jesus Through Advent
Advent starts on December 1st. As you wait for Jesus during Advent, you may try the "Nearness Advent Study 2019" and/or an Advent calendar. Both are resources from ELCA World Hunger and will be available in church.

A Journey through Addiction and Recovery
On Friday, November 8th, from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Monroe Clinic will present Vicar Michelle Knight. She will tell her own story of addiction and recovery. She has begun sharing her testimony of God’s redemptive work in her own life as a recovering alcoholic/addict along with practical tips for clergy and congregations in providing non-judgmental spaces for spiritual care and accompaniment to thos who suffer from addiction. Presentation will be at Stephenson County Farm Bureau, 210 W. Spring Street, Freeport. Light snacks will be served. Please RSVP to Stephanie Farrar at 608-324-1512

Fall Craft & Antique Show
Saturday, November 9th
Harmony United Methodist Church of Freeport will have their 60th annual Fall Craft and Antique Show from 9:00am-2:00pm at UMC, 2600 W. Pearl City Road. Free admission, a variety of exhibitors along with door prizes, lunch stand and bake sale.

Bishop Jeffrey Clements invites you to one of three gatherings around the synod this fall to join in a continuing conversation together about the synod’s new mission statement and corresponding synod goals.
