Due to continuing surge of Covid cases in the area and under 10 people for gathering,
our Sunday worship will remain remote until further notice. Service will be live streamed via Facebook live and be broadcaded via FM 88.9 ( you need to be closer to church building in order to have reception). Service will be recorded and posted on both our website and Facebook page. Thank you for your cooperation. We shall get through this together.

Annual Reports Are Due December 15, 2020
Annual reports are required for each committee and organization of the congregation. These reports are assembled and made available to the congregation members prior to the meeting. The reports are the responsibility of the chairperson or offices. If possible, please type up the report and email it to GoodShepherdLena@outlook.com in Word format. Thank you.

Poinsettias to Feeding Those in Need
This year the church is not going to order poinsettias to decorate the sanctuary. Instead, we will feed those in need in our community. If you would like to give a monetary donation to the Le-Win Food Pantry in honor of or in memory of your loved ones or to give glory of God on Christmas, please contact the church office. We will include the names in Christmas bulletin like we usually do. Thank you for sharing the love of Christ to our neighbors this Christmas.

Giving Tree
The Lena Business and Professional Association Giving Tree at the Lena Mercantile is full of ornaments for our area families. You can pick one at anytime by December 13. If you have any questions, contact Lena Mercantile at 815-369-9955.

God's Global Barnyard
In the month of December we will collect coins for ELCA World Hunger God’s Global Barnyard. Pick up your barns or pigs from church and bring them back in January.

If you aren't able to be present for in-person worship at GSLC, you can mail your offerings to the church at 118 East Mason Street, Lena, IL 61048. Church staff gets mail every week and the counter will count and deposit them in timely manner. Your continuous financial support is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact Wayne or Pr. Miho.

Le-Win Food Pantry
The Lena-Winslow Food Pantry is open every Saturday morning from 8:30 to 11:30. We cannot accept food donations at this time. Momentary donations are welcome.

Make-A-Smile Cards for Lena Living Center
Each month we will send cards to the Lena Living Center. This is a new ministry to share love of Christ to the residence in the nursing home. We are responsible for 10 cards each month. If you would like to help with this ministry, just bring cards to church by the 10th of each month. Please sign and include short encouraging words. Our hope is to make them smile!

News from Pine Ridge Reconciliation Center
Winter months are beautiful at Pine Ridge, but very cold. Many families are faced with the financial burden of heating their homes, many of which were not built to withstand the South Dakota winters. The Energy Assistance Matching Fund will match families in their contribution up to $200 to pay their heating bill.

To make a donation, donate online at sdsynod.org/donate and choose Energy Assistance Matching Fund or make a check out to Pine Ridge Reconciliation Center and mail it to Pine Ridge Reconciliation Center, P.O. Box 862, Pine Ridge, SD 57770.

Piece Corps Quilter Needs

Are you looking for yarn, or are you getting ready for those winter knitting or crochet projects? If you are, the Piece Corps Quilters has extra yarn available for you. Clothing is not needed at this time. If you have any of these items you can drop them off at the church office or Fellowship Hall.Thank you for your donations.

                Youth Owl Night and Christmas Program

We are looking for Your Family Christmas Cookie Recipe for Sunday School.
We are going to give out Christ in home Christmas bags to GS family and friends this year. We would like to include little booklet of recipes. If you have special Christmas cookie recipes in your family, would you mind sharing it with us? Please send your recipe to the church office at; goodshepherdlena@outlook.com or bring it to Betty. We appreciate if you can submit it by December 13th.

Needed: Youth volunteers The Food Pantry
Good Shepherd helps at the Le-Win Food Pantry on the 4th Saturday of every other month from 8:20am-11:30am. Needs are high and we are looking for 2 youth (junior high and older) volunteers for upcoming months (December 26, February 27, 2021, and April 24., 2021) If you are interested, contact the church office or Pr. Miho. Your help will be appreciated.

We Need Your Help With Christmas Season Preparation!
Christmas is coming. We need your help with start preparing for the Christmas season. There are 2 ways you can help:
1. Make God’s Eye craft
We are thinking about decorating the hallway with God’s Eye craft. It’s easy to make. Supplies are available at church.
2. Adopt a room to decorate
We have 5 rooms for you to adopt for Christmas decoration. If you are interested, contact Kristy. Thank you!

Advent Begins November 29th
Advent is a season of waiting and anticipation in hope. As darkness grows we look for Christ, the light of the world to come and born among us.

There are several ways to spend your Advent season.
Advent Devotion
"Our hope and expectation: Devotion for Advent &Christmas 2020-202"1 is a daily devotion with scripture, to ponder, short reflection and prayer. You may use as individuals or as a group.

"God With Us: Advent Study 2020" is a weekly devotion from ELCA World Hunger. Each reading goes along with lectionary with questions. Digital copy is also available on their website.

"Families Celebrate 2020-2021 Advent & Christmas" is a daily devotion and activity for all ages. Each card features a ritual, prayer, reflection, or activities for families with kids ages 3-12 (and older!) This includes lighting the advent wreath prayers for each week. This colorful deck of card may be used in your family time.

Advent Calendar
ELCA World Hunger 2020 Advent Calendar has scripture verses, prayer, hymns, and information about God’s Global Barnyard. Each day you open the window and learn about God and God’s work.

We have new devotion books for you to start a new year! Christ in Our Homes and The Word in Season provide daily readings and prayers. Pockets has fun easy reading, puzzles, and recipes. They are free and for your spiritual growth. Pick your copy at the rack today.
